RAWrobotics Designs Robotic Arm For Schools

RAWrobotics, a Brisbane-based robotics company has designed a robotic arm module that they hope will be used in Australian schools as part of the new high school curriculum.



Droid Racing Challenge

QUT Robotics Club has hosted its second annual Droid Racing Challenge in Brisbane. On Tuesday, 4th of July, 12 teams from 7 universities across Australia and New Zealand competed in the challenge, which involved designing and building the fastest vehicle to autonomously navigate a course.

The event was won by a team from the University of New South Wales.


QUT Robot Academy Launched

The Robot Academy is a new learning resource from Professor Peter Corke and the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), the team behind the award-winning Introduction to Robotics and Robotic Vision courses. There are over 200 free videos, each less than 10 minutes long.

The content was developed for two 6-week MOOCs that ran in 2015 and 2016, which in turn were based on courses taught at QUT. The courses are designed for university undergraduate students, although some of the videos are suitable for anyone with general knowledge.


New Brisbane AI Group

Brisbane.AI is a new meetup group that aims to connect AI enthusiasts from the greater Brisbane area to facilitate networking, idea development and knowledge exchange.

Founded in December 2016, the group has quickly grown to over 800 members. Check out their website and follow them on Twitter.


ICRA 2018

The International Conference on Robotics and Automation will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 21-25 May 2018.

This event is the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's flagship conference and is a premier international forum for robotics researchers to present their work. It is the first time this conference will be held in Australia.
